At least about 30 traders are reported to have been
killed in a deadly bomb explosion at a local market
in Borno State on Friday, according to a local
vigilante speaking to SaharaReporters.
Boko Haram militants
A suicide bomber suspected to be a Boko Haram terrorist
stormed a weekly market at Linmakara village in Gwoza
Local Government Area (LGA) of Borno State on Friday
afternoon, killing not fewer than 30 traders while several
others sustained critical injuries.
''A middle aged man pretended to push a cart and
detonated it at center of the market at noon when trading
was going on,'' he told SaharaReporters by phone from
Asikra/Uba.
He added “we are having network problems in this part of
the State, so it's becomes impossible for us to connect with
the rest of world. ''
Limakara is a remote village in southern part of Borno State
and 65 kilometers from Askira-Uba.
It would be recalled that in a recent months, after the
military had liberated Gwoza from the terrorists, people
from Gwoza have started returning back to the their
homes.
In June, Ali Ndume, who represents Borno Southern
Senatorial in the National Assembly visited Gwoza with
hundreds of residents welcoming him. Since then most of
the people who fled their homes have started to return.
